Sex addict story explained!

I found something interesting one day. Wii Fit accident made me a sex addict: U.K. woman. When I read that title I paused for a moment, trying to imagine how exactly this accident could have happened. The Wii Fit is a piece of flat plastic that sits on your floor with you standing on it, how could this transform someone into a sex addict?

What drew you into clicking on this? Keep it mind.

Let’s just say that the title of this story doesn’t do the content justice. Literally, the woman happened to be standing on the Wii Fit board when she fell. I feel like a more appropriate title would be Womans fall makes her a sex addict: U.K. woman. Is this article really improved by the fact that it tries to make you think its the Wii’s fault the woman was turned into a rampaging sex monster? It most definitely is not. This is much more of an issue than your first led to believe.

I have found that some recent forms of emerging media is becoming a wonderful scapegoat for societies shortcomings. Most painfully obvious is the videogame violence debate. Month after month articles are published trying to draw the narrowest thread of connection between videogames and whatever sort of tragedy they are pushing. However, as any intelligent member of the gamer social group will tell you, there are a tremendous amount of holes in the argument. While I am not going to get into every detail here with you today, I will get to the core fact. The issue here is parenting.

How good of a parent are you if you buy your twelve year old a game that clearly states its for a mature audience? If you allow your child to be exposed to excess graphic violence they will be more comfortable with as they grow up. There are the obvious extreme cases, such as the Columbine incident, but every part of society has those extremists. Adults are the ones that raise the youth, we are built from their actions.

I think its just a a problem with the media in general. Its disgusting the lengths writers will go to make an article seem like something completely different than what it is for the sake shock value. I find this very unbecoming on the writers behalf. The worst part of this is that our society gobbles this information up like pigs. Most people just readily accept the facts if they are presented in a professional manner, and this is a very dangerous fact. I think the world would be a much better place if the facts could be told without skewing them, and people tried to use their own judgement and not just what they are told.

But you should still read our blog :)

  1. Very good article! Most of societies flaws come from the lack of critical thinking skills in the education system. This doesn't allow them the means to analyze where their knowledge is coming from, or from where the 'facts' are being sourced. I agree with this article wholeheartedly.

PS. If you ever need a proofreader, I would be happy to extend my services as proselytizer for pedantry.
